WELCOME: 2 New Arrivals!

Hello all,

First I'd like to welcome Spring 2013!

After all, it was the first day of spring today. And guess what? It was absolutely gorgeous outside today. While I was running a few errands I was inhaling the fresh air, like a goldfish gasping for air. (If you haven't seen it, it's a hilarious sight). The beautiful sunshine, the warm weather. *sigh* I love North Carolina and its seasons, it's warm most of the year.

Next, I would like to welcome Savannah a la Mode, the newest member and fixture I mean character that permanently resides within In Court's Closet.
Savannah hails from Louisiana.
Her spunky and spicy attitude, I mean personality will make appearances on the blog frequently . . . "so get used to it". That was her, not me.

Say "hello" Savannah.

Until we meet again, au revoir.

Bag-tastic: It's in the Bag

When it comes to Court's preferences as to the ideal bag, there's only one rule:

BIGGER = better!!

Now we don't discriminate  We love a nice clutch, and envelope bags are exquisite, but a huge monster that can conceal a pair of jeans is completely, utterly, absolutely, magnificently, and Tote-ally Bag-tastic! Yeah, we know that these behemoths of the bag world have no place on a date because they can send out the wrong message: I have baggage, I'm high maintenance therefore I need to take my things with me, this is an overnight bag, etc. And yeah, we know doctors and experts  tell us not to carry big bags because they tend to get heavy and hurt our backs, but I like to think of it as a personal challenge. Like an all day weight training extravaganza.  My biceps and triceps will thank me during bathing suit season.  (I like to keep a brick and phone-book in mine . . . you never know when you may need them.) Who cares what others may think of a big bag. It's fabulous and it carries almost anything. I need a bag so big that I can fit my kitchen sink in it. So big, that if there were a flood, all I'd need to do is pull out an oar from one of its many pockets, hop in its comfy silk lining, and paddle my way to safety.

This is a bag that I had the good sense to yank out of Court's closet before anyone else got there mitts on it . . . and I love it!!! (I bet my 3 month old can fit inside of it).

So here's an ode to big bags (and there lovers) every where: "Throw it in the Bag"

TEXASTIME!!

Yesterday, I took a flight to Texas for a two week stay.  So far, I have to say, it's a nice climate change...consistent sunshine and warm weather!!

No sooner than my feet hit the ground, it was off to the races!  Pick up my rental car...check in my hotel room...meet with my team...then most important, scour the city for fashion deals!!

I absolutely LOVE!! my hotel room, it's like a efficiency apartment!!  The colors combined with the mix of mod and classic decor works, it's very fashion forward!! If you have to be away from home, this is where you want to stay... And to top it off, the hotel offers free breakfast & free dinner, including wine and beer...if you like that kind of thing, lol!

,

...And if you don't like what they have to offer in the way of nourishment, there are countless restaurants within walking distance. AND A MALL!!

Ok so, the last few days and the time change finally caught up with me.  This is me laying in bed, fully dressed UNDER the covers, too tired to even close my eyes!!

So it's off to bed I go.  But stay tuned for updates on all the fabulous things Texas has to offer, 'cause you know I'm gonna find out and report it back to ya'll...

Yeeehaw!!

Scaf-i-tude: Tie One On!

Here, In Court's Closet, we are suckers for a good scarf with a unique pattern or fabric. Drape it, tie it, wrap it, use it as a jump rope; the possibilities are endless. Recently, I have been falling in love with the idea of wearing scarves on my head. In my pre-teen years I've had many failed attempts (simply because I had no idea), but now I have a plan! Can you say, "Cute bows and Sunnies" "Pretty Aunt Jemimas" and "Towering Turbans"?

I have a bit of a scarf-i-tude! (scarf + attitude)

To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, let me offer you these!!

etsy shop: Fleur + Dot (girl's store)

This little girl brought it to the camera. I guess bows and a pair of sunnies (sun glasses) will do that to anyone. This image just screams, "SUMMER!" I can't wait for warmer weather.

This tutorial, brought to you by mymanemoves on YouTube, shows us how to rock the updated and flashy, "Aunt Jemima". Just wrap and fluff!!

This video, brought to you by Marie Stewart on YouTube, shows us a few options of how to wear a "Towering Turban" (along with a few funny faces and some cleaver scarves), but lacks the tutorial I desire. I guess I'll figure some of them out and share with you all.

I love this scarf. Animal print, at the right angle the leopard's face can be seen!

Yasss, honey! I will be lounging by the pool with one of these do's, a pair of sunnies, and a flashy set of earrings.

Don't forget to head over to the store and view our collection of scarves.

Welcome to my world...

I have never been one who overflowed with confidence, thought I was beautiful or even talented.  I truly thought that someone, most likely God, had made a mistake!  These feeling of despair most likely stemmed from my childhood which was full of trials and tribulations.  Growing up I struggled a lot with low self-esteem issues, always looking for someone else's validation and reassurance to carry me through.  But a few years ago, I decided to kick off the covers of pain and despair that I was hiding under and begin a journey of self-discovery and self-love.  I was determined to improve the way I saw myself, learn to accept my flaws and make changes for the better.  While it was the exact opposite of easy, after a lot of hard work, tears and restarts, I started to see a difference...in the way I looked at myself and the way others looked at me.

So here I am, still a work in progress, but excited to see what the future holds for me

Last year, I started my own business and will establish another one this year.  Next on the list of things to do...blogging about my business Court's Closet.  As I travel down this new path, I hope you'll come along...as I attempt to answer the address the question: What's...In Court's Closet!
